Friday, 20th Jan 06 - What has made it so special a day? PART 2

Part 2: WHY KRABI?

I was in a mixed feeling on the way to the airport. Surprised. Excited. Happy. All of a sudden, i was given leave and was on my way to Krabi to enjoy holiday. No workload. No email. No phonecall. Hee. But i was worried as well. I kept thinking, was that a way of giving "bonus" for me from the bosses or worst case, it could be a signal of some ending. It could be.

1.00 PM:

Landing in Krabi airport, we took a cab to Golden Village Resort in Ao Nang, where Lam had booked the room before. The resort is really nice with small villas and a lot of trees, just a few steps from the sea. Sunny and windy. Blue sea. " Good choice for holiday".

Feeling tired, i took a nap and when i woke up, it has been 6pm (cant believe it), the sea looked incredibly beautiful in the sunset. All my worries came back. Weird huh. How come suddenly i was given a holiday. I kept asking Lam:

- Anh co chac la boss em cho di nghi? holiday ko day.

- O*, em sao the nhi. Boss da bao di roi co ma`.

- Nhung em thay cu lo lo lam sao. La nhi, tu dung lai dong y cho nhan vien di nghi.

- Calm down, honie. Ko co gi phai lo lang ca. Ong y thay em lam viec nhieu nen khi anh xin cho em nghi di holiday, ong y dong y thoi. Boss em thuc ra tot lam. Ca may thang ban cua em nua.

- Hummm. Uh thi tot. Nhung van la. nhi

And i kept wondering and worried.

Putting that aside, i still enjoy Krabi. The food, oh man, it was so so good in Krabi. I had dinner in a seafood restaurant and it was incredible. Tom yam soup: so good. Steammed fish with some leaves that i dont know: so delicious. Squid, prawn cooked in Thais way. Even the rice was nice:

10.00 PM:

We came back to the room. The plan was to rest for a while before going out to some bar near the sea. But i was tired already after a long walk and felt worried as well as sleepy again, hii. But i could see the disappointment in Lam's eyes when i asked him :

- Hay minh o lai di, coi tivi, em ngai di ra ngoai qua'.

- Em buon ngu phai ko?

- Ko, buon ngu gi dau nhung thich nam nha` xem tivi ( I lied )

- Di holiday lai thich nam xem tivi. Ko hieu noi cai' co^ nay`.

- Mai minh di Phi Phi ma, can phai giu suc khoe anh ah (I lied again )

- O*, co lam gi dau ma ma^'t suc. Ra ngoai kia thoang mat, thoai mai.

- Nhung ko na(`m duoc.

- Thi anh ra bai cat bien cho em nam.

- Nam 1 luc thi lanh lam.

- Lanh gi tro*`i nay. Thoi ra ngoai di choi di ma.

Oh man, i just wanted to stay in the bed, resting and watching tivi. Why did he insist in asking me to go out? I wanted to throw the pillows at him. But well, he was rite and he has planned this trip for me.

- Uh, thoi ra ngoai cho thoang vay.

I went out, did not notice that Lam quickly grabbed something from the suitcase and put in his pocket.

11.00 PM:

We was walking, trying to look for some nice place to sit down 'cause Lam wanted somewhere not so noisy or crowded, somewhere as near the sea as possible (So troublesome this guy is, i was thinking ). Cannot find such a place in a town of all noisy bars, i didnt want to walk anymore.

Suddently one angmo walking nearby said to us " There is a very nice place at the end of this road. Good wine. No crowd. Looking out to the sea. Not many ppl know because it is at the very end of the road. U may want to go there. ". Actually, we never asked but he is just like those tourists out there in Krabi who are very friendly and talk to you like you are their friend. So we made our way there.

12.00 AM

I had a martini and Lam had an orange juice (he is a bit strange now huh). I felt good maybe because of the wind from the sea. We talked abt the job and he asked me :

-Ke cho anh nghe 3 du dinh lo*'n nhat, kho' nhat cua em trong vong 5 nam toi. (so serious his voice was, I felt a bit alerted )

- Hee, dau tien em dinh lay cho^`ng neu co the' ( tried to be humorous ).

- Moi co 1 thu, con cai thu 2 va 3

- Hummm, hay anh noi' cua anh truoc di .

- Uh, dau tien la cai PhD nay`. Cai thu 2 la lay vo*. neu co' the nay.

- Con cai thu 3?

He paused for a while. I asked again:

- The cai thu 3 la gi?

- Cai kho' thu 3 ... la`.........la`.....LAM` SAO HOI DUOC EM LAM VO*. ANH?

And he took out a ring, asking softly:

-MARRY ME, WILL U?

OMG, i opened my eyes (and my mouth as well ) so wide. He is PROPOSING. OMG, this is why my bosses let me you on holiday. This is why he chose Krabi and this romantic resort. This is why he kept looking for some quite and sleepy place. This is why… this is why….. THE MAN WITH THE PLAN. HOW SWEET HE IS.

I laughed, all the worries gone. Totally and pleasantly surprised. How much I love him now

( I guess u all know the answer now. Definitely a YES)

That’s how I’M ENGAGED .

- Nhan kim cuong dep qua. Bao nhieu carat vay anh.

- ……….. (censored again)
